Getting started with AI: 101 guide for Teachers

AI has quickly become a widely used tool in teaching, education, and administration. Whether or not you use AI yourself, you have probably overheard tea room conversations, fielded questions from parents, and seen it in the news.

This guide is intended for classroom teachers and educators who have very little hands-on experience with AI, and are seeking some practical help to get started.

Advice about AI is often either extremely conservative—advising heavily on the risks, problems, and downsides; or strongly advocating for heavy AI use—focused on the potential to save time and augment your teaching practice. These strongly conflicting views can make it hard to see the reality of the situation, which (like most things) sits somewhere in the middle.
